I used Bakerella’s red (or green) velvet cake recipe, a buttercream recipe that is an old standby, and stumbled upon a recipe for homemade fondant, which is what I used to make the brains, which admittedly might look a little more like intestines for some of the cakes, but I was trying to work as quickly as possibly. Also, thanks to this link for giving me the idea to do brains instead of just frosting the cupcakes with buttercream.
